Star Cinema’s The Reunion did well in the box-office as compared to its rival local movie from GMA Films, Just One Summer . Both movies had an August 15 showing. Based on the data provided by Box Office Mojo, The Reunion grossed a total of Php55,565,031 as of August 26, 2012. The movie made Php31,205,509 from Aug 15 to 19, and Php11,748,208 from Aug 22 to 26.

For the second time, ABS-CBN top-rating soaps Walang Hanggan and Princess And I tied at the No. 1 spot on Thursday, August 23, 2012. The two hit primetime series both got 39.3% viewers ratings. They first tied at No. 1 last August 7, with both getting 38.8%. Be Careful With My Heart was still on top of the daytime ratings but it also tied with Lorenzo’s Time at No. 4 in the overall ranking for the said date.

The South Luzon hopefuls of Protégé: The Battle for the Big Artista Break recently tested their acting skills via a short film with Diamond Star Maricel Soriano. Jeric Gonzales, Thea Tolentino and Arny Ross exerted their best dramatic acting skills in the story titled Nang Managinip Si Stella Maris . The short was was written by Floy Quintos and directed by Brillante Mendoza.

Oprah Winfrey topped the Forbes’s list of Highest Paid Celebrities for 2012. She made a whooping $165 million, $5 million more than Michael Bay who was at No. 2. The list was based on the amount the celebs made between May 2011 and May 2012.This was Oprah’s fourth consecutive time on the list.

The protégés from Mega Manila recently starred in a short film with the Diamond Star Maricel Soriano. The short film was titled Ms. Santa Maria and we found it the best among the five short films done by the protégés. The Mega Manila team mentored by Roderick Paulate did a great job in portraying each of their roles. Manny Many Prizes is heading to the U.S. this September! The pound-for-pound game show hosted by Pinoy boxer Manny Pacquiao will be at the Gibson Amphitheater at the Universal Studios on September 16. The episode will be shown locally on October 7 and 14. The event is in celebration of GMA Pinoy TV’s 7th anniversary. And with that, a lot of Kapuso stars will be gracing the show to entertain Filipinos in the U.S.
