Reese Tayag was eliminated from Protégé: The Battle for the Big Artista Break last night. She was from the North and Central Luzon auditions and was mentored by Ricky Davao.
The Top 15 were put into an acting test by starring alongside Diamond Star Maricel Soriano in five short films directed by Cannes Film Festival best director Brillante Mendoza from the script written by Palanca awardee Floy Quintos.
Reese got the lowest score from the test which was a combination of text votes and scores from the judges. Text votes amounted to just 30% of the total score while 70% is from the average of scores given by judges Joey de Leon, Bert de Leon, Cherie Gil and Annette Gozon-Abrogar.
Mentor Ricky only has two protégés left – Japs De Luna and Shelly Hipolito. Glenn Roy was the first to leave last week when a protégé from each of the five mentors has to be eliminated. Meanwhile, Japs also joined Reese at the bottom 3 last night, together with Vien Alen King of Mega Manila mentored by Roderick Paulate.
Reese, who was rushed to the hospital a couple of weeks back due to asthma, said she was saddened by the early elimination and will miss her fellow protégés. Despite the early boot, she was thankful to the knowledge she learned from her mentor and said she considers it as something that cannot be bought by money.
