Keith Urban is reportedly joining Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj at the judges table of American Idol.
The 44-year-old country music star who’s a big name as a musician in the U.S. and Australia, and is known the world over as Nicole Kidman’s husband, has already accepted the offer to be a judge for AI’s season 12, reported The Country Vibe.
A number of the show’s past winners belong to the country genre, the last of whom was Scotty McCreery of season 10.
And do we not notice how the show favors country artists? Still in season 10, Scotty was praised for singing almost monotonous songs week after week while Thia Megia was criticized for her choices. The judges go around the bush by saying this and that but we knew what they mean, they thought Thia’s picks were boring. And Scotty’s were not?
Anyway, if Keith is really sitting as judge, then do we see another country singer to win season 12?
The show allegedly wants four judges this season and since Randy Jackson will be promoted/demoted to a mentoring role, the show is considering Enrique Iglesias and Nick Jonas. And we’re crossing our fingers for Nick to add a younger and fresher vibe to the show.
Is the lineup of judges making you excited for American Idol’s season 12?
