The winners of the 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) were revealed Thursday night in a grand awards night attended by most of the stars of the movies participating this year. Rainbow’s Sunset was the most awarded movie, getting most of the major awards like best actress, best director and best picture.

Catriona Gray was crowned Miss Universe 2018 in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday (Manila time) giving the Philippines its fourth crown from the beauty pageant.

Vanessa Ponce de Leon of Mexico was named Miss World 2018, besting over a hundred candidates from around the world. The pageant's final was held in China on December 8. First runner-up was Miss Thailand Nicolene Limsnukan.

Miss Puerto Rico Valeria Vazquez Latorre was named Miss Supranational 2018, besting 70 other beautiful candidates from around the world. The pageant was held in Poland on December 7.

Hollywood Foreign Press Association has announced the nominations for the 76th annual Golden Globe Awards. Actors Terry Crews, Danai Gurira, Leslie Mann and Christian Slate revealed the nominees live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel. Erik Matti was supposed to be the director of ABS-CBN's adaptation of "Darna," but despite all the lengthy preparations (which included the replacement of the lead actress), it was announced on Thursday that the director and the network "decided to part ways in the filming" of the much-awaited movie. ABS-CBN has released a statement Thursday afternoon announcing that Erik Matti will no longer be the director of "Darna" which will star Liza Soberano.

Mister Nepal Phanendra Prasai was named Mister National Universe 2018 during the coronation night that was held on Monday. Phanendra bested 18 other good looking candidates from around the world in being the second winner of the pageant, after Pankaj Ahlawat of India who was last year's and the first-ever Mister National Universe. First runner-up was the host candidate, Mister Thailand Natchanon Singlum. Mister Brazil Markos Vinicius was named second runner-up. Mister Philippines Kenley Filarca won the Mister National Universe 2018 Ambassador despite not making it to the top 5. Other contestants that completed the top 5 were Malaysia and India.
