Director Erik Matti released his own statement on social media on Friday night, confirming that he has parted ways with the Darna movie project.
According to Matti, "things didn't work out" between him and the production company.
Hours before his statement, however, it was ABS-CBN that revealed the news.
According to the network's press statement, "ABS-CBN, Star Cinema, and director Erik Matti have mutually decided to part ways in the filming of "Darna" because of creative differences and to allow the filmmaker to work on his other projects under his own production company Reality Entertainment."
Meanwhile, Matti thanked Liza Soberano for her dedication and commitment and also said that she will be a kickass Darna.
Soberano has been tapped to play the role of the Pinoy superhero after Angel Locsin encountered some health issues while training for the project.
