The winners of the 69th Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences (FAMAS) Awards were revealed last night. The fantasy movie Magikland  by Brightlight Productions and Gallaga-Reyes Films was a big winner with seven awards, including Best Picture. Hari ng Pilipinas held its inaugural pageant in Cauayan, Isabela on Sunday, December 12, 2021. Forty-one gorgeous men vied for the title, and Jerson Mendez of Marinduque made history by being the first-ever Hari ng Pilipinas. Contestants were allowed to answer in the language they were comfortable in. Jerson answered in Filipino, and he answered his question the best he could.

Miss India Harnaaz Sandhu was crowned Miss Universe 2021 on Sunday, December 12th (Monday morning, Dec. 13th in Manila), during the pageant's finals held in Eliat, Israel. She beat Miss Paraguay Nadia Ferreira who was named 1st runner-up. Miss South Africa Lakeland Mswane was part of the Top 3 and was named 2nd runner-up. The Miss Universe 2021 Preliminary Competition was held in Israel on Friday (early morning of Saturday in Manila), with the candidates trying to impress the judges in swimsuit and evening gown, as well as in their national costumes. Marian Rivera is one of the judges of Miss Universe 2021 which is currently happening in Israel. Teen star Belle Mariano has just very recently released her debut album, Daylight , making her a bona fide recording star. Mister Grand Puerto Rico Fernando Ezequiel Padin was crowned Mister Grand International 2021 during the pageant's finale in Panama on Saturday (Sunday morning in Manila). He bested 27 other candidates from around the world to be the successor of the 2019 winner, Tuan Lucas of Vietnam. Miss Grand International 2021 crowned Vietnam's Nguyen Thuc Thuy Tien as the winner on Saturday, December 4th, during the pageant's finale that was held in Thailand. She bested several other delegates, including the Philippines' Samantha Panlilio, who failed to make the Top 20. Lovi Poe recently made the headlines for transferring from GMA-7 to ABS-CBN. And for her first project as a Kapamilya, she is paired with no other than Piolo Pascual for the Philippine adaptation of the South Korean series Flower of Evil . The original series is currently streaming on Netflix. The suspense drama is about a husband who is trying to hide his twisted past from his detective wife.

After much excitement, ABS-CBN revealed on Friday the big news that Janella Salvador will be playing the role of Valentina (the main villain) in the upcoming television series adaptation of Mars Ravelo's Darna . It was Janella, however, who got the nod of the Kapamilya Network to play the villainess to Jane De Leon's Narda/Darna character.

The Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) revealed the winners to the 34th Star Awards for Television on Sunday. TV shows considered for this year's edition were the ones that aired from September 2019 to August 2020. Here are the winners:

Beatrice Luigi Gomez was crowned Miss Universe Philippines 2021 on Thursday night, September 30th. A proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, she bested 27 other candidates from around the Philippines, gaining the right to represent the country in the Miss Universe 2021 pageant which is happening this December in Israel. The title Miss Universe Philippines Tourism 2021 was given to Katrina Dimaranan of Taguig, while Victoria Velasquez Vincent was named Miss Universe Philippines Charity 2021.

Lea Salonga is joining the cast of  Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin . She will play the role of Elodie, the overbearing mother of Minnie (Malia Pyles). Lea will be a series regular along with Filipino-American actress Sharon Leal and Elena Goode, who play mother to Tabby (Chandler Kinney) and Noa (Maia Reficco), respectively.

Inigo Pascual celebrated his twenty-fourth birthday by revealing that he is joining the cast of Monarch , Fox's country musical drama. According to variety.com , "Previously announced cast members include Beth Ditto, Trace Adkins, Susan Sarandon, Anna Friel and Joshua Sasse. The series follows America’s “first family” of country music, including mother Dottie Cantrell Roman (Sarandon), father Albie Roman (Adkins) and daughters Gigi Taylor-Roman (Ditto) and Nicolette “Nicky” Roman (Friel), and son Luke Roman (Sasse). Now at top 100, the Masbate beauty is leading the poll that will determine the pageant's top 75 contestants. After the top 75, the contestants will again be narrowed down to less than half, determining who will compete during the coronation night. Kisses, 22, has had several beauty titles in the past.
