'And The Breadwinner Is...' starring Vice Ganda leads 50th MMFF box-office

The Vice Ganda-starrer And The Breadwinner Is... has reportedly been leading the box-office since it opened in cinemas on December 25 as part of the annual Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF).

The movie got the most number of cinemas among the entries with over 200, so naturally it would earn more than the other entries.

But then again cinema owners know what movies to show that would give them more money.

The Vic Sotto-Piolo Pascual-starrer The Kingdom is said to be the 2nd top-grossing movie so far, followed by Judy Ann Santos' Espantaho and the Vilma Santos-Aga Muhlach-Nadine Lustre-led Uninvited. All 3 movies have been showing in 100+ cinemas since the MMFF opened.

Producers of the other entries are hoping to get more number of cinemas after the MMFF awards night (Gabi ng Parangal) on Dec. 27, considering they get awards.

Green Bones starring Dennis Trillo and Ruru Madrid started with 43 cinemas on the 1st day, and had additional 14 cinemas on the 2nd day. The movie became a trending tppic on social media on Christmas Day because of the cast's superb acting.

Meanwhile, the musical Isang Himala starring Aicelle Santos lost 8 cinemas on the 2nd day from its original 32.

'Rewind' starring Marian Rivera, Dingdong Dantes - Teaser

A teaser for Rewind starring real life couple Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes has dropped. Directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar, the movie is one of the official entries to the 2023 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) happening on Christmas Day, December 25.

The teaser shows us that the plot revolves around the life of a married couple and how the wife tries to fix the husband's issues with one of his parents.

There's a hint that one of them will die from a vehicular accident, and well, the voice-over says "Life is shorter than you think."

The Marian-Dingdong starrer Rewind is under Star Cinema, APT Entertainment Inc., and Agosto Dos Pictures.

Janella Salvador, Jane de Leon topbill 'How To Be A Good Wife'

Janella Salvador and Jane de Leon will be working together again in the upcoming film, How To Be A Good Wife, which will be directed by Jun Robles Lana from the screenplay written by Keavy Eunice E. Vicente and Fatrick R. Tabada.

According to the director, he read the script while he was on a plane back to Manila from New York and despite being jet lagged and exhausted, he couldn't put the script down.

"It's smartly and deliciously written," he wrote on X, adding that the plot is not something one would expect.

Meanwhile, Janella and Jane first worked together in ABS-CBN's television adaptation of Darna where they played lead roles. It was aired from August 2022 to February 2023.

Also in the movie is Susan Africa who currently appears in ABS-CBN's FPJ's Batang Quiapo. Now netizens are asking if her character in the movie is rich, or poor with perennial cough. We will soon find out as the cameras will soon be rolling for How To Be A Good Wife.

Regal Entertainment's horror movie Shake, Rattle & Roll Extreme may have failed to make it to the official list of Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entries, but the good news is, it's going to be shown in cinemas sooner than the festival!

Shake, Rattle & Roll Extreme will open in cinemas on November 29th, the last two days of the Halloween month.
