One of my favorites from among American Idol 11 contestants, Heejun Han, just got eliminated from the show for getting the lowest number of votes last night after he sang Donny Hathaway’s A Song For You . His elimination was quite surprising because the judges gave him a standing ovation after his Top 9 performance and all three of them only had praises for him. Now we know that America cannot be influenced by judges. They vote for whoever pleases their eyes and ears, no matter what the judges say. With Heejun at the bottom three were Skylar Laine and Holly Cavanagh. Holly, who sang Carrie Underwood’s Jesus Take The Wheel , was praised by judge Jennifer Lopez, calling her performance her best so far. Skylar sang Miranda Lambert’s Gunpowder And Lead , which Randy Jackson liked enough to call her a powerhouse singer.

At least twice a month, I take a break from blogging and the urban life to go somewhere remote so I can commune with nature or experience something new. For yesterday, I decided to revisit Mt. Talamitam in Nasugbu, Batangas. It was a good thing my favorite kid guides were unoccupied when I arrived. It was also summer last year when I first climbed that mountain, accompanied by three kids who were so happy with the pancit canton we cooked at the summit. The youngest of the three weren’t there yesterday, though, and it was drizzling all through the climb that we only stayed at the summit for a few minutes. Using the less steeper trail on our way down, we passed by a group of thirteen young mountaineers camped just below the summit. I just hope they weren’t hit by the hard rain that seemed to be looming in the sky yesterday.

Divine Maitland-Smith is the latest and last evictee of Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited . Since the housemates failed in the challenge that would have made the five of them last through the finals, one of them had to go out via the text poll that happened last night. Sadly, Divine got the lowest percentage with 5.51%

ABS-CBN has just released the music video of Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo . Sung by Angeline Quinto, the video features scenes from the upcoming soap of the same title starring Jake Cuenca, Shaina Magdayao and Bangs Garcia. The voice of Angeline, who has just released her second album recently , will be heard in yet another ABS-CBN soap through the classic George Canseco song.

Francis Magundayao caught the attention of the TV-viewing public when he starred as the young Piolo Pascual in Dahil Sa Pag-ibig . It’s a good thing ABS-CBN picked up the attention the young actor is getting by putting him in this Saturday’s episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya . Trailer below. Also in the episode is John Manalo, a former Goin’ Bulilit cast who was teamed up with Julia Montes in Mara Clara but was left behind when Julia was paired with different male stars in her succeeding acting projects. Directed by Lino Cayetano, the MMK episode is about the friendship of two boys whose dreams of riding a ship and touring the world turned into a tragic experience. MMK airs Saturdays after Wansapanataym on ABS-CBN.

The housemates failed to win in the challenge that would have put one more housemate in the finals. Big Shot for the 5th Slot, as the title of the challenge suggests, is for the 5th slot in the usual Big Four during the Pinoy Big Brother grand finale. It could have been Big Five had Pamu, Biggel, Divine, Paco and Slater was able to shoot the targets with the number of bullets they accumulated in the previous challenge. As a result, one of them will have to go out of the house before the finals, thus, making the last remaining housemates down to four.

Angeline Quinto launched a new album on ASAP last Sunday. Kim Chiu’s Maalaala Mo Kaya episode last Saturday topped nationwide ratings last Saturday, March 24th. It was truly much-awaited especially that a teaser for the episode began to air two weeks ahead. It got a total percentage of 29.2% of viewers share, putting a 6.2% gap from the Toni Gonzaga’s Wansapanataym episode which ranked second with 23%. Luis Manzano’s Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal followed with 21.7%, completing the top 3 shows which all came from the Kapamilya network.

The 2010 Binibining Pilipinas-Universe told Vice Ganda that she and Andrei have been together for four months already. The Entertainment Press Society (ENPRESS), Inc. presented the 9th Golden Screen Awards (2012) on March 24, 2012 at Teatrino Greenhills. Ang Babae Sa Septic Tank won Best Picture (Comedy or Musical) and the movie’s lead, Eugene Domingo, won Best Actress (Musical or Comedy) for her role. From the movie also came the winners for Best Director, Best Musical Score, Best Editing and Best Original Screenplay. Aga Muhlach, who recently won Best Actor at Star Awards for Movies for his role in In The Name Of Love , was also declared as GSA’s Best Actor (Drama) for his role in the same movie. Jean Garcia was awarded the Best Actress (Drama) trophy for her acting in Ang Sayaw Ng Dalawang Kaliwang Paa . Also from the same movie came the award for Breakthrough Performance by an Actor received by young Kapuso talent Rocco Nacino.

Tin Patrimonio was evicted from Pinoy Big Brother Unlimited during tonight’s live Eviction Night. Tin got the least number of votes from among the 6 remaining housemates, just 7 days away from the Big Night. Joseph Biggel got the highest percentage of votes with 19.49%, followed by Divine Maitland-Smith with 19.20%, Paco Evangelista with 18.39%, Pamu Pamorada with 17.26%, Slater Young with 14.16% and Tin with the lowest percentage of 11.50%.

Katrina Halili is 3 months pregnant with Kris Lawrence’s child! Katrina, who is currently in the cast of the Kapuso primetime series My Beloved , was recently rumored to be leaving the show due to health concerns. The said reason was confirmed to be her being pregnant after she decided to go public with it through an interview with columnist/TV host Ricky Lo. She first learned that she’s pregnant in February. Katrina said Kris was very happy with the news but at the same time felt so useless because the actress didn’t wanna see him while she was “naglilihi.” She only wanted to cook all day and luckily never experienced the normal nausea and vomiting that other women experience during the first few months of pregnancy.

20th Century Fox has released the theatrical trailer of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter which is coming in 3D on June 22, 2012 (US). The movie stars Benjamin Walker as Abraham Lincoln, the 16th president of the US, who is fictionally portrayed as having a secret identity of a vampire hunter.

As reported , the official full trailer of Kung Ako’y Iiwan Mo premiered on ABS-CBN’s primetime block on March 23. Jake Cuenca and Shaina Magdayao play the role of childhood friends who got separated before Jake was able to tell Shaina that he loved her. They eventually met abroad as grown-ups, but Jake already has a girlfriend played by Bangs Garcia.

Whitney Houston’s died of accidental drowning, that was confirmed by L.A. County Coroner in the singer’s official cause of death that was released earlier. Whitney, however, had several drugs in her system by the time of her death including cocaine, marijuana, Xanax, Flexeril and Benadryl. Heart disease was also noted. A TMZ source said it was possible that the singer had a heart attack “triggered by hardening of the arteris as a result of cocaine use.”

Erika Van Pelt was eliminated from American Idol 11 during the March 22 results night. After agreeing to cut her hair short and color it dark, she got the least number of votes from America. Erika was praised by the judges for her performance of New York State of Mind and even for her new look. It’s the American people, however, who decide, and unfortunately, the votes Erika got weren’t enough to keep her on the show. Even the judges didn’t choose to save her.

Robert Pattinson stars in Cosmopolis , a movie about a rich man’s trek across Manhattan. It will drop August 17, 2012 (US). Directed by David Cronenberg, the movie is based on the thirteenth novel of Don DeLillo with the same title. It was filmed on location in Canada and France.
