The opening ceremonies of Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Season 38 was held Sunday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. The participating basketball teams were introduced with their muses, which is one of the highlights of the event each year.

A new trailer for Ina Kapatid Anak has been released by ABS-CBN. It premieres October 8, taking the timeslot to be left by Lorenzo’s Time . The series tells of a compelling story about family, love, power, rivalry, and acceptance, with four of the most sought-after young stars of today in the lead roles - Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, Enchong Dee and Maja Salvador.

Gabriel Maturan and Daddy’s Home were the first two to be announced safe and, therefore, included in the finals next week. Allen Jane Sta. Maria and KZ Tandingan, who both belong to the Girls Category mentored by Charice, were the Bottom 2. That means only one of them will go through to the finale.

Only one of them will be eliminated before the finals next week and it was so obvious that the remaining contestants were giving it all they’ve got in order to get through to the finale.

It will surely be an exciting episode tomorrow (September 30) in Sarah G Live! as Richard Yap, the heartthrob of daytime soaps, does a duet with Sarah Geronimo. But not only Richard makes the episode special because BB Gandanghari will also grace the show. The Kapatid star will share the centerstage with Sarah G. in a dance number that will surely be a blast.

The music video for One Direction’s newest single Live While We’re Young has been released. The song is included in their upcoming second studio album titled Take Me Home which is scheduled for release November 12th in the UK and Nov. 13th in the US and Canada. The music video features the quintet having fun, in the sense of living while they’re young.

The Jonas Brothers are coming to Manila for a concert on October 19, 2012, 8:00 PM, at the Mall of Asia Arena. Joe Jonas, one of the trio, was here in the Philippines last May for a series of shows and for his Bench endorsement. He even rode a pedicab at Fort Santiago at one point.

The teaser for GMA-7’s adaptation of the Korean drama Temptation of Wife has been released. The teaser alone will tell you it will be a very dramatic role for Marian Rivera who will play the lead role of Angeline.

Andrew Garfield will soon be donning that Spider-Man costume again as Columbia Pictures just confirmed that the actor will reprise his role for the next installment of The Amazing Spider-Man . Director Marc Webb, who helmed the first movie, has also been confirmed to be directing the sequel. He will be working from the script by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci and Jeff Pinkner based on James Vanderbilt’s (writer of first movie) draft.

Haram , the supposed teleserye that would team up Dingdong Dantes and Kylie Padilla, will be temporarily shelved due to the sensitive topics about the Muslim beliefs the series will tackle. GMA-7 decided not to push through with production for now in respect of the Muslim community.

Be Careful With My Heart was a constant daytime leader from September 24 to 27 in national ratings but Princess And I faltered and moved down to No. 2 again from Sept. 26-27. Beating Princess And I was the previous leader Walang Hanggan . The Coco Martin-Julia Montes-Paulo Avelino-starrer regained its top spot on Wednesday and Thursday, before and during the much-awaited wedding of Marco (Richard Gomez) and Emily (Dawn Zulueta).

Be Careful With My Heart Sabado Rewind topped Saturday national daytime ratings just like how the weekday soap tops daytime television from Monday to Friday. Meanwhile, Maalaala Mo Kaya regained its top spot (with the gay episode starred by Edgar Allan Guzman) from Wansapanataym after the fantasy series ruled for some weeks. Sunday was topped by Pinoy Pride XVI on daytime and Korina Sanchez’s Rated K on primetime.

ABS-CBN’s Be Careful With My Heart and Princess And I are still unbeatable nationwide as it gets majority of viewers ratings for daytime and primetime respectively. Barbie Forteza topbills the upcoming GMA-7 fantasy series Mariposa , set to air in November. Barbie was last seen as the teenage Blanca in the book 2 of Luna Blanca , and fans won’t miss seeing her on primetime that long because according to its wikipedia page, Mariposa will premiere November 5.

GMA-7’s new afternoon series Magdalena premieres on October 8. Directed by Gina Alajar, it has Bela Padilla in the title role, her first-ever lead. There are a lot of good-looking men in the series. First off are the three leading men of Lena (Bela) – Dion Ignacio, Pancho Magno and Ryan Eigenmann.

The hit television series Princess And I recently held a “Royal Fair” at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City for the fans of the show. The full trailer for A Secret Affair has just been released by Viva Films. The movie is set to be shown this October. Directed by Nuel Naval from the script written by Mel Mendoza-Del Rosario, A Secret Affair is the follow-up movie to Anne Curtis and Derek Ramsay’s box-office hit No Other Woman . This time, however, Anne is playing the role of the legal one.

Jessica Sanchez shrugged off criticisms about her nationality as brought about by a series of messages Courtney Blooding, Charice’s manager, posted on Twitter. Blooding recently questioned the support Filipinos are giving the American Idol 11 runner-up, when she is an American, doesn’t have a Filipino passport and doesn’t speak Tagalog.

The Philippine Azkals won against Guam in the pre-match for the Philippine Football Peace Cup, 1-0, that was held on Tuesday, September 25, at the Rizal Memorial Stadium. It was Patrick Reichelt who scored a goal during the 81st minute, the lone goal for the entire match.

Anne Curtis was declared Best Actress at the 60th FAMAS Awards (2012) that was held Tuesday night, September 25, at the Manila Hotel. She won the award for her performance in the box-office hit No Other Woman produced by Star Cinema and Viva Films.

The music video for Bea Binene’s single Urong Sulong has been making it to the Pinoy MYX Countdown and MYX Hit Chart recently. Urong Sulong , originally recorded by Regine Velasquez in the 80s, is included in Bea’s debut album titled Hey It’s Me which is now out in the market.

Star Cinema has released the music video of Suddenly It’s Magic , the theme song of the upcoming movie with the same title, as performed by Angeline Quinto and Erik Santos. The music video features scenes from the Erich Gonzales-Mario Maurer-starrer which is showing on October 31.

Julie Anne San Jose’s self-titled debut album has already reached a gold status. Released just last August, it has already sold more than 10,000 copies making it eligible for a gold record award. Julie Anne received the plaque on Sunday in GMA-7’s Party Pilipinas . Such an achievement for someone so young and relatively new to the music industry.

Gerald Anderson and Cristine Reyes will be paired for the upcoming primetime series, ABS-CBN’s Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin . Gerald’s last teleserye was Budoy (2011-2012) where he played the lead role as the retardate Benjamin Maniego, while Cristine last starred in Dahil Sa Pag-ibig (2012).

One Direction’s Up All Night Souvenir Edition topped the Foreign Category of Astrovision/Astroplus Top-Selling Albums for September 17-23, 2012. The OPM and Overall categories, meanwhile, was topped by Be Careful With My Heart album.

Derek Ramsay is set to topbill Kidlat , an upcoming superhero series on TV5. Kidlat will be Derek’s first full series since he transferred to the Kapatid network. He last acted on television via ABS-CBN’s Magkaribal in 2010.
