Warner Bros Pictures has released a new TV spot for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey which opens in theaters on December 14th. The movie is directed by Peter Jackson and stars Ian McKellen, Martin Freeman, Orlando Bloom, Elijah Wood, Ian Holm, Cate Blanchett, Luke Evans, Benedict Cumberbatch, Andy Serkis, Hugo Weaving, Stephen Fry, Christopher Lee, Evangeline Lilly and Richard Armitage.

The history of Iglesia Ni Cristo will be made into a movie set for a July 2014 release. It is titled Ang Sugo ( The Last Messenger ). The pilot episode of GMA-7’s new primetime series Pahiram Ng Sandali ranked seventh in national primetime ratings with 17.5% viewership on Monday, November 26, 2012. Starring Dingdong Dantes, Lorna Tolentino, Assunta de Rossi, Max Collins and Christopher de Leon, the program either failed to create enough noise to get viewers interested, or the top-rating Kapamilya programs were just too good to let go.

Zia Quizon was a big winner at the 25th Awit Awards (2012) which was held on November 27 at the Glorietta Activity Center in Makati City. Among the awards Zia accepted were Song of the Year, Best Performance by a Female Recording Artist, and Best Performance by a New Female Recording Artist all for her single Ako Na Lang composed by Jungee Marcelo.

Arjo Atayde will be in the lead cast of a big ABS-CBN teleserye next year. And it wasn’t because of his recent win at the 2012 PMPC Star Awards for TV because the project has been offered to him even before that. The big project is reportedly a television remake of the 1983 action drama movie Dugong Buhay which starred Ramon Revilla and son Bong Revilla. Details, however, like which role Arjo will be portraying, hasn’t been revealed yet.

After getting her ‘perfect gift’ from her husband Zoren Legaspi through their grand mob wedding, seasoned actress and TV host Carmina Villaroel will give the TV viewers a special kind of present this Saturday (December 1) as she topbills the Christmas countdown special of ABS-CBN’s top-rating fantasy-drama anthology “Wansapantaym.” In an episode titled ‘Perfect Gift,’ Carmina will give life to the role of Joanna, a woman who did not experience a beautiful childhood. Because of her parents’ shortcomings when she was still young, Joanna did everything while growing up so she can to give everything that her son asks for. Despite of the expensive toys and clothes that she has provided, will Joanna realize the greater importance of giving time for her own son?

ABS-CBN’s top caliber family drama series, “Ina Kapatid Anak” topbilled by Kim Chiu, Xian Lim, Enchong Dee and Maja Salvador trounced its newest rival program in GMA by almost 16 points. Based on the data from Kantar Media on Monday (November 26), “Ina Kapatid Anak” garnered 32.9% national TV ratings, while the pilot episode of its latest competition “Pahiram ng Sandali” only got 17.5%. The Kapamilya series also ruled its timeslot last Friday (November 23) with 31.9% national TV ratings, or almost 14 points higher than the final episode of “Coffee Prince: Pinoy Version” which only got 18.2%.

ABS-CBN’s Wansapanataym and Goin’ Bulilit topped weekend national ratings on November 24 and 25 respectively. Carmina Villaroel and Zoren Legaspi’s wedding special on Saturday got a 22.8% viewers rating which made it the fourth most-watched program both in primetime and in that day overall.

GMA-7’s Philippine adaptation of Coffee Prince starring Aljur Abrenica and Kris Bernal hit its highest national rating during its finale on Friday, November 23, 2012, with 18.2%, ranking 6th in primetime and 7th for that day. Meanwhile, ABS-CBN’s Princess And I was the most-watched program, with Be Careful With My Heart ranking 4th overall and taking the lead in daytime.

Carlo Aquino and Joem Bascon portray the roles of bisexual lovers in the upcoming heavy drama episode of Maalaala Mo Kaya this Saturday, December 1. The episode will be shown in celebration of World AIDS Day. Kevin (Carlo) and Alan (Joem) are both bisexuals who met through a casual sex. Soon they found themselves in love and eventually became partners. Things changed, however, when they found out Kevin had AIDS, and he also infected Alan with the virus.

Pop superstar Jennifer Lopez had a successful concert at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City on Monday night, November 26, 2012. The venue was packed with fans despite the pricey tickets. A lot of local celebrities were also seen at the audience including Anne Curtis, Richard Gomez and daughter Juliana, Isabelle Daza, Georgina Wilson and boyfriend Borgy Manotoc, Joey de Leon, Tessa Prieto-Valdez, and a lot more. The concert boasted of big production numbers that included a boxing ring on the stage at one point and JLo in a see-through skintight suit studded with Swarovski crystals in another.

Nora Aunor will be Sharon Cuneta’s guest on Thursday and Friday, November 29 and 30, in her TV5 talk show Sharon Kasama Mo, Kapatid . It is the show’s “Superstar Week” and Nora will be featured in a two-part episode to talk about her life as local showbiz’s superstar.

A video was recently posted on YouTube that features two photos of Piolo Pascual and Maja Salvador “kissing.” in the photos, the two were shown inside a car with Piolo in the driver’s seat. The second photo showed the two like they were about to kiss and there were big smiles on their faces so we really don’t know if they were serious or just playing around.

The awarding ceremony was held on November 26 at the Fiesta Pavilion of The Manila Hotel. One of the country’s top comediennes, Eugene was recognized for her acting in Bona , where she played the role originally portrayed by Nora Aunor in the movie version. Former Mr. Pogi Edgar Allan’s portrayal of Gardo, Bona’s narcissistic showbiz idol, also earned him the nods of the jury.

TV5 is said to be preparing to compete more intensely with the two leading networks, ABS-CBN and GMA-7, beginning next year. First up was Willie Revillame’s recent live announcement that will be leaving his weeknight game show Wil Time Bigtime early in January 2013. Many hinted that it was just a gimmick of sorts, because he wouldn’t be announcing such a thing in such a manner on live TV if that was indeed true.
