Filipino filmmaker Lawrence Fajardo’s independent film Posas (Shackled) was hailed as the Best Feature Film in this year’s Hanoi International Film Festival (HANIFF).
The second edition of the festival wrapped up in a colorful awards show Thursday night at Hanoi’s Friendship Palace.
Posas, which debuted in this year’s Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival, was selected among entries from 31 countries in the Asia-Pacific. Written by Zig Dulay, the film stars Nico Antonio, Bangs Garcia, Susan Africa, and Art Acuña.
Here are the list of winners at the 2012 Hanoi International Film Festival:
Best Feature Film – Posas (Shackled), Lawrence Fajardo (Philippines)
Best Short Film – Bermula dari A, B.W. Purba Negara (Indonesia)
Special Jury Award for Feature Film – Blood Letter, Victor Vu (Vietnam)
Special Jury Award for Shorts Film – Yellow Bull, Khanh Duyen (Vietnam)
Best Director for Feature Film – Reis Celik, Night of Silence (Turkey); Iskandar Usmonov, Telegram (Tajikistan)
Best Actor – Ilyas Salman, Night of Silence (Turkey)
Best Actress – Yin Yaning, Song of Silence (China)
Meanwhile, Fajardo has an upcoming mainstream movie included in this year’s official entries to the Metro Manila Film Festival. His take on the aswang folklore in The Strangers will go head-to-head with another horror, the MMFF regular Shake Rattle and Roll.
