Senator Bong Revilla renewed his contract with GMA-7 on Tuesday, November 20. His Sunday educational show Kap’s Amazing Stories is doing great on its fifth year, but aside from that, the contract renewal has something to do with the upcoming series titled Indio.
Indio is reportedly the biggest and most expensive project of the Kapuso Network for 2013. It is a historical drama which will be directed by Dondon Santos and will also star Jennylyn Mercado, Maxene Magalona and Rhian Ramos.
During the signing of the two-year exclusive contract, the senator expressed his loyalty to the network. “Ang puso ko ay nandito sa GMA dahil ako ay isang Kapuso,” he said. “Paano ko naman iiwan ang isang istasyon na hindi ako pinabayaan? Also, masaya ako na sa akin ipinagkatiwala ang proyektong pinag-isipan at pinagkagastusan ng network, ang Indio.”
Present at the signing were Lolit Solis (Bong’s manager), GMA President and Chief Operating Officer Gilberto R. Duavit, Jr., Bong Revilla, GMA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Atty. Felipe L. Gozon and GMA Entertainment TV’s Officer-in-Charge Lilybeth G. Rasonable.
Atty. Gozon himself said he’s happy with Bong’s loyalty as a Kapuso. “Masaya kami,” he said on Tuesday. “Kaya naman ‘yong pinakamalaking project namin sa 2013 na Indio ay ibinigay namin sa kanya.”
Mr. Duavit also talked about Bong’s loyalty to the network. “Bukod sa respeto natin sa kanya bilang public servant at artista, andoon ‘yong pagkakaibigan, e. We’ve been very good friends and the loyalty and the effort that Bong has continued to put in with his work with us, bukod tangi ‘yon.”
Indio is set to premiere in January 2013. Before that, however, Bong’s movie with Vic Sotto and Judy Ann Santos titled Si Agimat Si Enteng Kabisote At Si Ako opens in cinemas on December 25 as part of the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). The movie is being predicted to be the festival’s top-grosser, considering the box-office appeal of the three actors.
