Bacolod Masskara won It’s Showtime’ s inter-town competition. They bested seven other talented groups during the grand finals that was held on the show’s April 28 episode. All ten judges gave them the perfect score of ten, making them the grand champion of the talent show’s fifth season. The top 5 of the hit singing reality show American Idol 11 has been named and Filipino-Mexican contestant Jessica Sanchez was still favored by Americans to stay in the competition. Elise Testone got evicted last night. She had been in the bottom three numerous times along with Hollie Cavanagh who was again part of it this time. They were joined by Skylar Laine but she was immediately made safe.

News broke out last February that a Derek Ramsay-Bea Alonzo movie will be this year’s anniversary presentation of Star Cinema, the film outfit of ABS-CBN. But with Derek’s leaving ABS-CBN and transferring to TV5, Star Cinema is allegedly not going to push through with the team-up anymore.

Check out Aryana’ s official trailer which came out last night, April 25, between ABS-CBN primetime shows Dahil Sa Pag-ibig and Pinoy Big Brother Teen Edition 4 . The trailer shows a little bit of Aryana’s roots, with her parents being Pokwang and Tonton Gutierrez. It also shows a community of mermaids headed by Tetchie Agbayani. Desiree del Valle, being one of the mermaids, chooses to be punished for the sins committed by her child. She eventually becomes human and takes Pokwang’s baby during the reception of the child’s baptism. That child will eventually be called Aryana.

Hollie Cavanagh chose to sing Queen’s Save Me and Miley Cyrus’s The Climb during the American Idol 11 top 6 performance show. Randy Jackson said her Queen song was a good performance, while Jennifer Lopez called her personal song choice “perfect.” Watch Hollie’s top 6 performance videos below.

ABS-CBN is all set to make the biggest splash this summer as its newest fantaserye Aryana joins the winning roster of primetime drama series. Topbilled by 2008 FAMAS Best Child Actress Ella Cruz, the much-awaited fantasy tale features the adventures of a typical teenager named Aryana (Ella) whose life makes a full twist on her 14 th birthday as a dark curse turns her into a mermaid.

Phillip Phillips chose Queen’s Fat Bottomed Girls and Dave Matthews’ The Stone to sing at American Idol 11 top 6 performance show. His Queen song was rated “good” by Randy Jackson and his personal choice song was called a little too artsy by Jennifer Lopez. Randy, however, disagreed with J. Lo with the second song because according to him, Phillip’s artsy side spoke to him a hundred million percent. Watch Phillip’s top 6 performance videos below.

Elise Testone chose Queen’s I Want It All and Jimi Hendrix’s Bold As Love to sing at the American Idol 11 top 6 performance show. Her Queen song was praised by the judges and was even hailed as one of her best performances to date. Randy Jackson called her rendition of the Queen song “incredible” and “effortless” while Jennifer Lopez said Skylar hit her stride with her second song. Former Goin' Bulilit child star Kristel Fulgar has quickly made a mark as a young villain in ABS-CBN's top-rating primetime drama series Dahil sa Pag-ibig with several intense scenes with no less than veteran actor Christopher de Leon. In a recent much-talked about episode, Kristel's character Andrea, the rebellious stepsister of the roles of Piolo Pascual and Cristine Reyes, was slapped by Christopher.

American Idol 11 is now down to its top 6 contestants. Filipino-American Jessica Sanchez is still in the show and tonight, she sang Luther Vandross’ Dance With My Father and Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody . The judges liked the first song with comments ranging from “truly amazing” to “the most beautiful,” but with the Queen song, the judges thought Jessica needed to rock it out a bit more.

Nothing Compares To You is the title of the movie that would reunite the current Box Office King and Queen, Derek Ramsay and Anne Curtis, after the very successful No Other Woman . Cristine Reyes, their No Other Woman co-star who shares the Box Office Queen title with Anne, is not in the new movie, though.

TV5 allegedly wants Christian Bautista to be the host of their upcoming reality singing competition, Kanta Pilipinas , but that is, if the Asian sensation would choose to become a Kapatid. Christian’s contract with ABS-CBN ends this August and the singer would like to see first if there would be more opportunities for him in the Kapamilya network.

Disney has released a new trailer for Brave that focuses on the rebellious side of Princess Merida. The movie is about a princess (Merida) who wanted to change her fate. She didn’t want her upcoming marriage to push through so she asked a Wise Woman to give her a spell that would do just that.

Callalily is reviving Eraserheads’ Minsan for the soundtrack album of the upcoming movie The Reunion . The soundtrack is also an Eraserheads’ tribute album so it will be a delight to the fans of the band. The Reunion movie stars Xian Lim, Enrique Gil, Enchong Dee and Callalily’s front man Kean Cipriano. The coming of age movie tells about the story of a group of high school friends who met several years after, all looking for the true meaning of love and happiness. They think something they did in high school was keeping them from moving on.

Xian Lim will be releasing a new album this May 3 titled So It’s You with the carrier single of the same title. Watch the album teaser below. The teaser video shows Xian in photo shoots, donning different outfits and posing for the cameras while his version of So It’s You is playing in the background.

Nancy Castiglione denied that she was seen at The Fort with the controversial actor Hayden Kho. A new (longer) teaser of Aryana was aired recently on ABS-CBN, but it’s still only the lead star, Ella Cruz, that was seen on the video. However, pictures of some of the cast had been uploaded on Twitter and Facebook and the Kapamilya teen star Paul Salas appeared to be Ella’s leading man in the fantaserye.

Filipino-American Cheesa Laureta sang Whitney Houston’s I Have Nothing in the recent quarterfinals round of The Voice season 2, and she gained nothing but praises from Christina Aguillera and her mentor, Cee Lo Green. Cheesa’s fans and family for sure gave a sigh of relief when Cee Lo didn’t pick Cheesa for instant elimination. The mentor chose James Massone from among his four remaining contestants to send home. Paramount Pictures has released a new trailer for Jon M. Chu’s G.I. Joe: Retaliation . The movie will drop June 29, 2012 and stars Channing Tatum, Byung-hun Lee, Adrianne Palicki, D.J. Cotrona, Ray Park, Jonathan Pryce, Bruce Willis, Ray Stevenson and Dwayne Johnson. Story: A follow-up to the 2009 release of G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra, which grossed over $300M worldwide, Paramount Pictures, MGM and Skydance Productions, in association with HASBRO, commenced the di Bonaventura production of G.I. Joe: Retaliation.

It has only been barely three months since It’s Showtime became ABS-CBN’s noontime show, but rumors about it being replaced soon has been recently going around. A new noontime show titled Palibhasa Tanghali is allegedly being conceptualized. The title is taken from Palibhasa Lalake , the hit sitcom back in the days that starred Richard Gomez, Joey Marquez and John Estrada, the same three actors who are rumored to host the new noontime show.

Jennifer Lawrence of The Hunger Games has a new movie coming out titled House at the End of the Street , and she’s the only one featured in the new poster. Mark Tonderai directs the movie which also stars Max Thieriot, Elisabeth Shue and Gil Bellows.

It was reported last Saturday that the American Idol 11 top 6 will pay tribute to the band Queen. We’re already contemplating about what Filipino-Mexican Jessica Sanchez would pick, and we could almost hear Joshua Ledet strain his vocals to We Are The Champions .
