America’s Next Top Model has reportedly done a major “house cleaning” that resulted into three of its regulars being axed from the show.
Runway coach J. Alexander, creative director Jay Manuel and photographer Nigel Barker would reportedly not be seen in Cycle 19 as they were told Thursday that their contracts would not be renewed.
In a press release, the shows executive producers, Tyra Banks and Ken Mok, wrote:
"Nigel Barker, Jay Manuel and J. Alexander have been an integral part of the America’s Next Top Model brand and they helped turn this show into the household name it is today. They have been amazing assets to the show and will always be a part of the ‘Top Model’ family. We will continue to actively work with each of them on future projects.”
Nigel Barker said he wasn’t surprised to hear the news, saying there had been discussions about the show’s rating being down and something like that would happen. He also said he narrowly missed being removed from the show before.
With his being out of ANTM, Nigel said he wants to create his own show that has something to do with photography.
Mr. and Mrs. Jay were yet to comment about the issue.
I wonder who they tapped to replace the three, especially J. Alexander. And would the move improve the show’s ratings?
