Blogging Break: Mt. Talamitam

At least twice a month, I take a break from blogging and the urban life to go somewhere remote so I can commune with nature or experience something new.

For yesterday, I decided to revisit Mt. Talamitam in Nasugbu, Batangas. It was a good thing my favorite kid guides were unoccupied when I arrived.

It was also summer last year when I first climbed that mountain, accompanied by three kids who were so happy with the pancit canton we cooked at the summit.

The youngest of the three weren’t there yesterday, though, and it was drizzling all through the climb that we only stayed at the summit for a few minutes.

Using the less steeper trail on our way down, we passed by a group of thirteen young mountaineers camped just below the summit. I just hope they weren’t hit by the hard rain that seemed to be looming in the sky yesterday.

Visibility wasn’t that good but I managed to take a shot of Mt. Batulao in the distance:

How to get to Mt. Talamitam:

  • Ride a Nasugbu-bound bus and ask to be dropped off at Sampaloc, Sitio Bayabasan in Brgy. Aga (from Pasay, bus fare is P124 as of this posting)
  • Sampaloc is sort of a street, walk through that road until you reach Bro. Ted’s place. You won’t miss it for the signs that address the mountaineers. He’s also well-known in the area so you can just ask around.
  • Register at Bro. Ted’s for P25
  • Hire a guide for P300. I get a guide/s everytime I climb even if I already know the trail to help, in my own way, the local economy.
  • You can also wash up at Bro. Ted’s before going home.

  1. Nice photos you have there... Wish I could also climb a mountain one of these days. Maybe on Maundy Thursday. I'll try. Haha.

  2. Thanks, Reyn! "Conquering" a mountain always brings such great joy to me. I'm sure you'd find it fulfilling, and a great form of exercise, too. :)
