George Clooney was arrested for protesting outside the Sudanese embassy in Washington on the morning of March 16, two days after attending The White House state dinner and rubbing shoulders with the president.
The Hollywood actor was handcuffed along with his father, Nick, Virginia rep. Jim Moran, civil rights leader Ben Jealous and fellow activists who participated in the protest.
They were arrested after having verbally warned three times not to cross the police line while the group were protesting about the violence on the Sudanese people committed by Sudan’s government.
"They were protesting the violence committed by the government of Sudan on its own innocent men, women and children," said the actor’s rep. "They were demanding they allow humanitarian aid into the country before it becomes the largest humanitarian crisis in the world."
