Smart Gilas Pilipinas wins agains USA in 2012 Jones Cup

The Smart Gilas Pilipinas national basketball team won against the U.S.A. at the 34th William Jones Cup (2012) held in Taipei, Taiwan.

The game ended 76-75 in favor of Smart Gilas. LA Tenorio scored 20 points that helped the team come back from a double deficit during the first half.

Tenorio also scored that last 2 points, with only 17 seconds left, that made them win the game.

Smart Gilas ended the tournament 7-1. Their single loss came from Lebanon.

It was fourteen years ago when the Philippines last won the tournament courtesy of the Philippine Centennial Team in 1998. Smart Gilas’ win was the country’s fourth time.

PBB Teen Edition 4 Audition at MOA on January 6 & 13
