Tito Sotto says plagiarism is not a crime in the Philippines

Senator Vicente “Tito” Sotto III delivered his privilege speech regarding the issue of plagiarism that was thrown towards him after defending his anti-RH Bill stand.

But we think Sotto forgot to admit that he indeed copied sections from Sarah Pope’s blog.

Sotto said he got the quote from the book by Natasha Campbell-McBride, but really didn’t. His researchers actually quoted the words of Sarah Pope from her blog post titled “How ‘The Pill’ Can Harm Your Future Child’s Health,” thinking the blogger did a verbatim quote of Campbell-McBride’s work.

Sotto didn’t fail to stress out, however, that there’s no law on plagiarism in the Philippines. Check out the highlights of his speech in the video below.

Meanwhile, read Sarah Pope’s reaction to the issue in her post titled “On Plagiarism, The Pill, and Presumptuousness.”
