Dolphy’s first death anniversary remembered

Zsa Zsa Padilla and the children of the late Dolphy gathered at the Comedy King’s grave at The Heritage Memorial Park in Taguig City where they offered a mass to commemorate his first death anniversary.

“Dolphy: Song and Dance Man” premieres on Jeepney TV

Newly-launched cable channel Jeepney TV airs its first ever channel-produced special, “Dolphy: Song and Dance Man” on Sunday (December 16) which features Dolphy not as a funny man but as an ultimate entertainer.

Dolphy’s loved ones celebrate the Comedy King’s 84th birthday

Fifteen days after Dolphy passed away, his family and loved ones will be celebrating his 84th birthday.

Rowell Quizon, one of Dolphy’s grandsons, told Umagang Kay Ganda this morning that their family will celebrate the Comedy King’s birthday at the Heritage Park in Taguig, where his wake was held and where he was laid to rest on July 15.

Dolphy’s “MMK” episode rules nationwide TV ratings

The re-run of Dolphy’s ‘Bisekleta’ episode in “Maalaala Mo Kaya” was the most-watched TV program nationwide last weekend. Based on Kantar Media’s data last Saturday (July 14), Comedy King’s last “MMK” episode garnered 40% national TV ratings. In the story, Dolphy portrayed the role of a father who struggled to make his family whole again after spending 40 years of his life in prison.

Meanwhile, “MMK” features another heartwarming tale this Saturday (July 21) with the life story of Miss Universe 2010 4th runner-up Venus Raj. “MMK” is Venus’ first acting stint. Eric Quizon says they forgive Annabelle Rama for causing a scene at Dolphy’s wake

Dolphy’s son Eric Quizon has commented on last night’s incident at his father’s wake that involved Annabelle Rama and Chito Alcid.

Eric said they understand the talent manager for causing a scene but they just wish it didn’t happen during Dolphy’s wake at the Heritage Park in Taguig City.

Dolphy’s Maalaala Mo Kaya (MMK) teaser

Dolphy’s Maalaala Mo Kaya episode is going to be re-aired this Saturday, July 14, by ABS-CBN.

Directed by Jeffrey Jeturian from the script written by Ruel Montañez and Arah Jell Badayos, the story is about Abel (Dolphy), a father who spent 40 years in jail for a crime he did not commit. But will he be able to reunite his family after being gone for so long?

He also commended ABS-CBN for the the organized conduct of the whole affair despite the very short period of time to prepare for it, and for allowing GMA7 and TV5 to do coverage as well.

It was a touching tribute that ABS-CBN prepared for Dolphy when the mortal remains of the Comedy King was brought to Kapamilya network, his original home when he started his long and storied career in television. The legendary comic icon started his career via the defunct show Buhay Artista where he shared the billing with his partner Panchito Alba.

ABS-CBN Corporation, led by its chairman and chief executive officer, Eugenio “Gabby” Lopez III paid tribute to a ‘Kapamilya’ for more than 40 years, the late King of Comedy Dolphy via necrological services themed “Salamat, Tito Dolphy: Pagsaludo sa Hari ng Komedya,” held last Wednesday, at the Dolphy Theater of ABS-CBN.
