Dolphy unites TV networks in “Dolphy Alay Tawa: A Musical Tribute To The King Of Comedy”

“Dolphy Alay Tawa: A Musical Tribute To Dolphy, The Philippines’ King Of Comedy” will be held at the Mall of Asia Arena on September 19, 2012 at 7:00 PM. It is a much-anticipated event not only because it’s for Dolphy, but also because the tribute will gather celebrities from three competing television stations in the country – ABS-CBN, GMA-7 and TV5.

A-list celebrities from the three stations will gather for this rare occasion to pay homage to Dolphy, whose life touched millions through his talent and untiring commitment to entertain.

“The management of the three networks and their talents are working together to bring life to Dolphy’s autobiography,” said Dolphy’s son Eric Quizon, who spearheaded the event. He is joined in the effort by a number of his siblings like Dolphy Jr., Rolly, Edgar, Eric, Jeffrey, Vandolph, Sally, Ronnie and Zia, together with Dolphy’s longtime partner Zsa Zsa Padilla.

Majority of the performers who are joining the event have, at one point, worked with the Comedy King. Those who are named to make an appearance in the tribute are Vilma Santos, Nora Aunor, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, Sharon Cuneta, Lorna Tolentino, Boyet de Leon, Maricel Soriano, Roderick Paulate, Martin Nievera, Gary Valenciano, Ai-Ai delas Alas, Ogie Alcasid, Edu Manzano, Janno Gibs, Pauleen Luna, Judy Ann Santos, Ryan Agoncillo, Luis Manzano, Vhong Navarro, Jolina Magdangal, Ruffa Gutierrez, brothers Richard and Raymond Gutierrez, Ruby Rodriguez, Keempee de Leon, Wendell Ramos, Edgar Allan, Martin Escudero, Alex Gonzaga, Danita Paner, Jhong Hilario, Arci Muñoz, Ritz Azul, Iya Villania, Denise Laurel, Melai, Eula Caballero, Angeline Quinto, JC de Vera, Rachelle Ann Go, and the Bulilit Kids. With special participation of Eddie Garcia, Gloria Romero, Rosa Rosal, Eddie Gutierrez, Nova Villa, German Moreno, Daisy Romualdez, and Susan Roces.

Al Quinn is directing the show with Bibeth Orteza as the scriptwriter. Author of Hindi Ko Ito Narating Mag-isa, Bibeth knows Dolphy too well as she was the one whom the late comedian told his autobiography to.

Tickets are priced at P450 (Lower Box), P250 (Upper Box), and P150 (General Admission).

But for those who will not be able to see the show live, the special dubbed "Dolphy: Alay Tawa" will air simultaneously in all three networks on September 30, 2012.

One tribute show, all three networks. Dolphy has indeed united the entertainment industry.
