Deniece Cornejo dismisses call girl rumors

Deniece Cornejo denied that she is an escort, an speculation that arose from reports that she was staying for free at the Forbeswood Heights condo unit courtesy of a Malaysian man named Greg Binunus that she met at a bar.

It was also the same condo unit where comedian-TV host Vhong Navarro was mauled by Cedric Lee and his group.

In a statement sent to the Philippine Daily Inquirer that was published on Tuesday, the model said she is not a call girl. She also explained how she met the Malaysian.

“I met Mr. Greg through a girl who purchased goods from me," she said.

Cornejo owns an online fashion store.

"She happened to work at a piano bar. She gave Mr. Greg my number, hoping that he would purchase goods from me in order for her to get a commission."

She eventually met Binunus who asked her to become an endorser for the Southeast Asian restaurant he was opening at the Fort.

"During my meeting with Mr. Greg, he also discussed his other projects. He mentioned that he was opening a Southeast Asian restaurant … in the Fort and asked me to be an endorser and [to also] help him [in] branding and management since I am a hospitality management student."

She stayed at the condo for free in exchange for her help.

“I then decided to stay in that unit [on] a short-term basis while looking for a more accessible place in exchange for helping him in his business,” Cornejo said.

She also talked about the laptop with video editing software that she purchased after Navarro was mauled, saying she bought it to research about rape. The video editor was for her "creative work in fashion and design."

“This is why I bought this laptop, in order to do my research on the matter aside from continuing to do my creative work in fashion and design. I find it hard to believe that buying a laptop with a video-editing software has anything to do with me being raped,” she said.

Cornejo filed a rape case against Navarro a day after the actor filed several criminal charges against her, Lee and his group. According to her and Lee's statements, Navarro was mauled when Lee and his group arrived and found the actor on top of the screaming model.

Navarro claims otherwise, saying Cornejo immediately left when he arrived at her condo. He also said he was tied up by Lee's group, got blindfolded and mauled, his pants was pulled down and he was forced to say on video that he raped his friend. The group also tried to extort money from him.

CCTV footage from the condo that has been acquired by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) matches Navarro's statements.

Recently, the Taguig court dismissed Cornejo's petition for Temporary Protection Order (TPO) against Navarro. The hearing was held the same day the preliminary investigation of Navarro's legal charges against Cornejo, Lee and his group was held at the Department of Justice (DOJ).
