Deniece Cornejo, Cedric Lee attend preliminary investigation

Deniece Cornejo and Cedric Lee attended the second preliminary investigation of the legal charges filed by Vhong Navarro against them regarding the January 22, 2014 mauling incident in a Taguig condominium.

The presence of the two, as well as Lee's sister Bernice and Simeon "Zimmer" Raz who were also charged by Navarro with criminal offense, was a media feast, reason why their lawyer requested that the press be set outside.

The request, however, was denied. The panel said the media could stay as long as they are manageable and comply with the order.

Also denied by the panel was the request of Cornejo and Lee's camp to be given more time to submit their counter affidavit, as well as their request that the NBI produce the complete copy of the Forbeswood Heights condominium's CCTV footage.

Meanwhile, Atty. Howard Calleja of Cornejo and Lee's camp said they are ready and no one tried to delay the proceedings.

"Nakikita n'yo naman na handa naman po kami ngayon. Kung makikita n'yo naka-schedule ito 14 at 21. So handa naman po kami ngayon, wala namang dine-delay," the lawyer said.

Navarro's lawyer, Atty. Alma Mallonga, on the other hand, was pleased that the Department of Justice did not allow anything that could cause delay.

"If there were any delaying tactics, fortunately the Department of Justice did its job. Walang kaduda-duda na authentic 'yung CCTV footage," Mallonga said.

On Feb. 28, JP Calma and Jed Fernandez, two more respondents in Navarro's complaints, is set to appear before the panel.
