The episode of Willing Willie, a defunct TV5 program, showing a macho dancing kid has caused negative reactions two years ago. Now, the controversy has come back accusing the program’s host Willie Revillame of child abuse.
The case was pursued by the Department of Social Welfare and Development as well as the Council for the Welfare of Children. It accuses Willie of “exploiting the vulnerability of a minor” in that much talked-about March 12, 2011 episode.
The case was raffled off to Quezon City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 86 under Judge Roberto Buenaventura.
The episode became controversial when televiewers saw a crying six-year-old boy contestant named John John performing a sexy dance as his talent. Willie was laughing all throughout the performance. The host could have avoided negative comments against him had he not coaxed the boy to repeat the dance for a number of times.
Also, he called former basketball player Bonel Balingit to somehow frighten the boy, asking him if he wanted to have a fist fight with the towering cager.
