Vice Ganda’s rape joke about Jessica Soho gets international attention

Vice Ganda’s rape jokes about GMA News and Public Affairs vice president Jessica Soho has already reached the international press.

The comedian’s public apology on Wednesday afternoon was reported by Associated Press and was eventually published by no less than the Washington Post.

The much-talked about joke was delivered during the It’s Showtime host’s recent comedy concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. He made fun of the media personality’s physique and even said that if she would be a bold star, her scenes should include a gang rape.

Jessica admitted she was hurt but said in a statement that the issue should not be about her but “about rape victims who suffer tremendously from this terrible crime.” She also added that their suffering “should never be taken lightly, especially by way of a cruel joke.”

After Vice’s public apology, Jessica released another statement saying that she hopes it “was done with the purest intentions and determination to put this issue behind us.”
