The American Idol 12 finale results show was held on Thursday, May 16, 2013, at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. It was aired live via satellite in the Philippines by Star World.
The show started off with host Ryan Seacrest presenting the season's Top 2 - Kree Harrison and Candice Glover. It was followed by a production number of the Top 10 singing and dancing to The Wanted's Glad You Came.
The five boys, who all got eliminated first from the Top 10, sang with Frankie Vallie.
Mariah Carey looked like a bridal doll on top of a wedding cake as she stood on the center stage singing a medley of her hits like My All, Hero, We Belong Together and Beautiful.
Next was a performance by Top 4 contestant Amber Holcomb with Emeli Sande. They performed Sande's single Next To Me. The performance kinda made me wish Amber and Candice were the two left in the finale.
Korean performer Psy did Gentleman with his dancers and the live audience cheered as Psy did the dance steps that became popular with the song.
Judge Keith Urban went back to his T-shirt as he performed his single Little Bit of Everything with his band. He showed us once again how sexy he is when he performs wit those tight jeans and guitar.
Everyone went wild when Candice Glover performed with American Idol alumna Jennifer Hudson. They sang Inseparable and Candice didn't let Jennifer overpower her. The runs were superb. It was reminiscent of, but not better than, the Jessica Sanchez-Jennifer Holliday duet last season.
This season's top 3 Angie Miller had a blast as she performed Titanium with Adam Lambert and Dancing In The Moonlight with Jessie J which got a standing ovation from judges Mariah and Nicki Minaj. Jessie afterwards invited Angie to fly with her to the UK to do music, which Angie very willingly agreed to.
Kree Harrison performed a country number next with no less than judges Keith Urban and Randy Jackson.
AI officially said goodbye to Randy Jackson who has been a judge since the very first season. He has recently expressed his desire to leave the show to concentrate on other stuff.
Finally, Aretha Franklin guested on the show. She performed some of her hits like Natural Woman and Respect with the Top 5 girls.
Former judge Jennifer Lopez visited the Idol stage once again to perform Live It Up, her new single featuring Pittbull. She and her dancers were wearing costumes that somehow reminded me of Sailor Moon with their short skirts.
Before the results were announced, Candice and Kree did a duet of One Less Bell To Answer and A House Is Not A Home. They were both wearing black dresses, ready to sing their respective coronation songs whoever wins.
And after the nationwide vote, the winner of American Idol Season 12 is Candice Glover! Candice started crying and when asked for a few words, she uttered "three years" which meant that after three years of auditioning for the show, her hard work paid off.
Candice sang her coronation song, I Am Beautiful, which is also her official first single as an American Idol 12 winner.
