Mayon Volcano had a phreatic explosion on Tuesday but Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said there's no need to worry.
According to Phivolcs Director Renato Solidum, the said volcanic activity is just normal for an active volcano, thus, Alert Level 0 hasn't been changed.
The phreatic explosion occurred around 8 AM of May 7, 2013, with the smoke reaching as high as 500 meters from the summit.
However, no volcanic earthquake was detected within the past 24-hour observation period and the seismic and gas emission parameters indicate no intensification of volcanic activity.
But then people are still advised to refrain from entering the 6-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) as phreatic explosions may occur without precursors.
