Opportunities knock only once. That's why when Dawn Zulueta was offered the role in ABS-CBN's upcoming teleserye Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin, she didn't think twice even if she originally planned to spend more time with her family for the summer.
The role was originally intended for Maricel Soriano. The Diamond Star, however, was replaced due to the controversy that involved a shouting incident with the lead star Gerald Anderson. But Dawn had no qualms about being the second choice, saying she didn't want to turn down the network that relaunced her career through Walang Hanggan.
"I felt that I didn’t want to turn down naman my home network. Anytime na kinailangan nila ako, I didn’t want to say sorry I’m not ready. After all sila rin naman ang nagpabongga ng career ko nung binigay nila sa akin yung Walang Hanggan," Dawn told push.com.ph.
She plays the role of Gerald's mother in Bukas Na Lang Kita Mamahalin and the script was adjusted to fit her.
"Parang inadjust nila ng konti. Tama yung sinasabi ni Sir Deo (Endrinal) dahil nagbago ng actress they need to kind of tailor fit it also. Kasi I feel comfortable naman. When I read the lines kumportable naman ako. I don’t feel naman na, ‘Ay, parang hindi naman ata ‘yan character ko.’ Masaya sa set. Director namin si Jerome Pobocan and Trina Dayrit who’s with us before sa Walang Hanggan. Enjoy kami. Pondo lang kami ng pondo ng episodes," she further said.
Aside from the TV project, Dawn is also set to guest in Vice Ganda's upcoming concert at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. It was Vice who popularized the phrase "I-Dawn Zulueta mo 'ko!" when the actress guested with her long-time love team Richard Gomez in the comedian's Sunday night talk show. I wonder who will "Dawn Zulueta" her during the concert. I hope Richard will also be there.
Meanwhile, Dawn's co-stars in the phenomenal hit Walang Hanggan are also busy with their respective TV projects. Julia Montes and Susan Roces are set to work together in an upcoming primetime series, and Coco Martin is currently seen in the top-rating Juan Dela Cruz.
