Gandang Gabi Vice aired its second anniversary episode on Sunday, June 3, 2013, and host Vice Ganda couldn’t help but become emotional.
During the start of the show, he recalled that GGV was originally intended to air for just one season or thirteen weeks, and he considers it a blessing that they are now celebrating the show’s second anniversary.
Getting emotional, he said that he hopes this wouldn’t be the last year.
“Thirteen weeks, two years na. Sana hindi ito ‘yong last year,” he tearfully said.
The controversial comedian also told his viewers that hopes the show has also become a blessing to them.
“This is such a big blessing. Hindi lang sa akin, sana naging blessing din ako sa inyo at itong programang ito sana talaga naging blessing sa inyo ang Gandang Gabi Vice kasi napakalaking blessing ito sa akin,” he said.
He added that he hoped he made people laugh even just once in the show’s two years of airing.
“Sa dalawang taon po na ‘yon sana po napasaya ko kayo. Kahit isang beses lang do’n sa dalawang taon na ‘yon sana po napatawa ko kayo. Maraming salamat.”
Thanking everyone, he wished for more opportunities to make everyone laugh.
“Salamat sa chance, salamat po sa pagkakataon. Thank you so much. Sana bigyan n’yo pa ako ng pagkakataon na patawanin kayo ulit lahat.”
Vice became controversial recently because of a sketch in his recent concert where he made fun of GMA News and Public Affairs vice president Jessica Soho’s weight. He also got criticized for using rape as a joke. He said that should Jessica be a bold star, her scenes should include a gang rape. According to the sketch, her “rapists” would say, “Ipasok ang lechon!” Jessica would then answer, “’Asan ang apple?”
Vice’s public apology to Soho has been picked up by international media due to the issue of rape being used in jokes.
