Ate Gay has left Wowowillie after the show removed him as the finale of the mini-concierto segment.
The Nora Aunor impersonator didn’t show up for the day after new co-hosts Cacai Bautista and Joy Viado replaced him as finale. He said it could have been okay if they replaced him as the last performer if only the show’s staff informed him beforehand.
He also denied that he left the show because he got insecure of the inclusion of the two singer-comediennes in the show. He even said that it was he who suggested that the show get Cacai as co-host.
Joy, however, said that they were told early on about the sequencing in the mini-concierto.
“Sinabi naman ng maaga na ganito ang sequencing!” the comedienne said. “Sa akin it doesn’t matter kung ako ang number one number two o last.”
Meanwhile, Cacai said her theater upbringing taught her not to see others as competition.
“We grew up in theater e so para sa amin ang orientation sa amin we don’t see each other as competition. We help each other,” she said.
Jay Montelibano, Wil Productions’ business unit head, confirmed that Ate Gay left the show on his own will.
“He the one who left the show. I was telling him nga and the manager, Freddie, na regardless na you’re the last, if you’re good you’ll shine… He can be emotional at madamdamin,” Jay said.
