The Voice Of The Philippines auditionee Edward Benosa captured the attention of television viewers and netizens on Sunday night because of his good looks.
Edward sang Bruno Mars’ It Will Rain during the show’s Blind Audition but despite the screams of the live audience, none among the four judges turned around to get him under their teams.
His voice obviously failed to impress Lea Salonga, apl.de.ap., Bamboo and Sarah Geronimo, but the Pop Star Princess found him appealing when their chairs turned around to give comments after the performance.
“Witweew!” Sarah reacted, imitating the sound of a whistle some guys make to express admiration to sexy women.
Edward might have impressed with his looks but it was “the voice” that matters in the reality singing show. And that’s the main idea of the Blind Audition, so the judges/coaches will not go in favor of a contestant because of his/her looks.
Despite not making it through, however, the 23-year-old singer from Quezon City was a sure winner on Twitter last night. He trended in the Philippines and worldwide because netizens found him really appealing. That and also because indie actor Arnold Reyes was seen backstage with Edward’s mom cheering while he sings.
Netizens couldn’t help but speculate what his relationship with the indie actor was.
Meanwhile, Edward isn’t new to reality shows, and to losing for that matter. He also joined GMA-7’s StarStruck back in 2009 but he only went as far as the Top 20.
Here’s Edward’s Blind Audition video during the second episode of The Voice Of The Philippines:
