Marian Rivera turns down movie with Judy Ann Santos, blamed by Mother Lily for lack of MMFF entry

Marian Rivera is being blamed by Mother Lily Monteverde of Regal Films as the reason why the film outfit has no exclusive entry to the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) this year.

On Tuesday, the official list of entries to the 2013 MMFF has been released by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). Pagpag, Regal’s co-production with Star Cinema and Skylight Films, got through but the lady producer lamented they could have had an exclusive one if the Kapuso actress agreed to do the movie she was offered.

According to Mother Lily, Marian turned down the movie project with Judy Ann Santos because she wanted a solo starrer.

“Ayaw niya gawin kasi gusto raw niya, solo siya,” pep.ph quoted the Regal matriach as saying. “You know, malungkot din ako kasi wala ako entry. Pero ayaw gawin ni Marian, e.”

The film outfit normally had Shake, Rattle and Roll series of movies in the past years but Mother Lily wanted the Marian-Judy Ann project as entry this year. Sadly, it didn’t push through.

Marian, a contract star of Regal, reacted to the issue saying she wasn’t aware of the said project but confessed that she has heard of rumors saying she turned down Judy Ann.

“Hindi ko alam, e. Si Tatay [Mr. Tony Tuviera], si Ateng [Rams David] na lang ang tanungin mo. Hindi naman ako lang ang nagdi-decide,” she told pep. “Narinig ko nga 'yan na parang tinanggihan ko raw si Judy Ann. Wala akong alam diyan. Ako na naman ang masisisi diyan.”

But Mother Lily stood up for what she said, saying she has no reason to lie especially that she is now being treated for cancer.

“I don't lie,” she said. “Sa Starbucks kami, nandiyan si Roselle [Monteverde-Teo], kaharap namin. Siya ang nagsabi na ayaw niya na may kasama. Gusto niya, solo. How many years na ako sa showbiz, I’m not lying. I’m a cancer patient, and I don’t want to lie. Siya talaga ang tumatanggi.”

Moreover, Mother Lily said Marian committed breach of contract on her two upcoming movies My Lady Boss and Kung Fu Divas. And I guess that’s the reason why the showing of the said movies were postponed, and also some of the reasons why Marian ditched former manager Popoy Caritativo for Tony Tuviera.
