Mitoy Yonting secures a slot in ‘The Voice Ph’ under Team Lea (Video)

Michael “Mitoy” Yonting made the chairs of coaches Lea Salonga and Bamboo MaƱalac turn last night in The Voice Of The Philippines. He sang his version of Didith Reyes’ Bakit Ako Mahihiya and his high-pitched voice was described by Lea as “laser.”

Mitoy is not new to performing. He’s actually a professional with some Awit Awards under his name. He is the lead singer and guitarist for the band The Draybers.

On the first few seconds of his performance, Lea already pushed the button to turn her chair for him. The international singer didn’t even wait for further high notes to convince her that Mitoy was worthy to be in her team.

Apologizing in advance, she cursed out loud (but was bleeped for TV, of course) saying, “Bihira lang lumalabas sa bibig ko ang ganyan! Ang galing mo, ang galing mo! Kung hindi mo 'ko pinili, iiyak ako!”

Bamboo, on the other hand, explained why he waiting until the last moments before he turned around.

“Napatagal ako kasi iniisip ko, napakabagay niyo ni Lea, eh. 'Yun ang naisip ko at first. Naramdaman ko 'yun, eh, nung umpisa,” the rockstar said.”Pero narinig ko na ang ganda ng character ng boses mo, napaka one-of-a-kind, which is something they say of me.”

Mitoy, in the end, picked to be in Team Lea while apologizing to Bamboo. Talking to host Toni Gonzaga after the Blind Audition, he confessed that he really liked to be in Lea’s team even before the audition started.
