Alfie Lorenzo revealed that Marian Rivera wasn’t the one who turned down the movie offer with Judy Ann Santos. It was the Queen of Teleserye herself who declined to do the movie.
During the press conference for the upcoming My Lady Boss which stars Marian and Richard Gutierrez, Alfie said that it was her talent who decided not to do the movie because of other commitments.
A few days ago, Regal Films’ Mother Lily Monteverde blamed Marian for not having an exclusive entry to the 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF). The film outfit’s only movie that got through is Pagpag which it co-produces with Star Cinema and Skylight Films.
Regal Films had Shake, Rattle and Roll series of movies in the past years but Mother Lily decided not to submit an SRR entry this year in favor of the Marian-Judy Ann project. Unfortunately, it didn’t push through.
“Ayaw niya [Marian] gawin kasi gusto raw niya, solo siya,” pep.ph quoted the Regal matriach as saying. “You know, malungkot din ako kasi wala ako entry. Pero ayaw gawin ni Marian, e.”
Marian denied having turned down the movie, but the producer stood her ground saying they were in Starbucks with her daughter Roselle Monteverde-Teo when Marian declined because she wanted a solo-starrer.
But during the press conference, Marian said she has not seen Mother Lily for a long time.
“Malaki ang utang ng loob ko kay Mother,” she said. “Alam ko na matagal na kaming hindi nagkikita, hindi kami nakakapag-usap. May mga bagay talaga na minsan dapat yung bawat tao yung nag-uusap, hindi yung may pagitan kung ano yung gusto mong sabihin sa bawat tao.”
Meanwhile, Marian was seen smiling throughout the presscon and even hugged Mother Lily despite what happened. She also said she’s sorry that Judy Ann’s name got dragged into the issue.
