James “Bimby” Yap Jr. will soon make an acting debut via the official 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry Torky at My Little Bossing which also stars his mom Kris Aquino, Ryzza Mae Dizon and Vic Sotto.
Although Kris said Bimby finds Ryzza Mae funny, the presidential nephew made one request before accepting the movie - to not dance Ryzza’s cha-cha.
Ryzza, who rose to fame after winning Eat Bulaga!’s Little Miss Philippines 2012, has popularized her cha-cha steps in the Kapuso noontime show. It is now also being used in her own talk show, The Ryzza Mae Show.
“Sabi niya ‘I don't want to do dance that ha?’” Kris was quoted by ABS-CBN News as saying. “Sabi ko you don’t have to you are a boy.”
Meanwhile, Kris said (warned?) that she will be a doting stage mother to Bimby in levels that would put Mommy Divine to shame.
“Mapapahiya si Mommy Divine sa akin,” she said in a press conference on Tuesday.
Mommy Divine is Sarah Geronimo’s mom who is known in showbiz circles for interfering with her daughter’s love life and career.
Kris also said that she has been taping advance episodes for her morning show Kris TV because she will be concentrating on the movie once the shoot starts.
“Hindi ako magtatrabaho during this whole time. Kaya kami advance ng advance ng ‘KrisTV’ kasi sinabi ko na sa kanilang lahat na on the days that he's shooting nakatutok ang nanay,” she said.
Joyce Bernal is directing the movie instead of the lead Vic Sotto’s favorite director Tony Reyes. It was a special request of Kris because she wanted Bimby to work with someone familiar to him in his first movie.
“Pumayag sila for the first time na si direk Joyce Bernal ang hahawak. Kasi nakiusap ako. Sinabi ko na Bimb is very comfortable with her, kilalang kilala nila ang isa’t isa at sana ay mapabigyan kami for this,” she said.
“Sobrang bait nila and ang daling ka-deal. I was told is that direk Tony Reyes is going to be the supervising producer, so everybody’s happy,” she added.
MMFF is an annual movie festival that begins on Christmas Day. It is organized by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA). On Tuesday, the eight official entries to the 2013 MMFF was announced. Aside from Torky at My Little Bossing, other films in the list include 10,000 Hours; San Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir; Boy, Girl, Bakla, Tomboy; Be Careful With My Heart; Pagpag; Kimmy Dora: Quantum of Kyeme; and My Super Kap.
