Tropical Storm “Helen” Update (Aug 14, 7:00 PM)

Residents in the flood prone areas, especially in the parts where the flood hasn’t subsided yet, is fearing the nonstop rainfall that Tropical Storm “Helen” has been causing in Metro Manila.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has already released a Yellow Warning Signal for the metro as of 6:00 PM today, August 14, 2012.

According to the weather bureau, moderate to heavy rainfall is expected over Metro Manila. There will be possible flooding in low-lying areas and those located near the river and creek channels.

At 7:00 PM today, the center of Tropical Storm “Helen” was located based on satellite and surface data at 190 kilometers East Southeast of Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. There is no Public Storm Warning Signal (PSWS) raised over Metro Manila but the tropical storm has been affecting the Southwest Monsoon which is the reason for the downpour.
