Shortlist for Chief Justice released

The shortlist of nominees for the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court has been released by the Judicial and Bar Council on Monday.

Included in the list are the eight nominees who got at least 5 votes from JBC. It is from this list where Philippine President Benigno Aquino III will choose the next Chief Justice from.

The list includes:

1. Carpio, Antonio T. – 7 votes
2. Abad, Roberto A. – 6 votes
3. Brion, Arturo D. – 6 votes
4. Jardeleza, Francis H. – 6 votes
5. Sereno, Maria Lourdes P.A. – 6 votes
6. Zamora, Ronaldo B. – 6 votes
7. Leonardo-De Castro, Teresita J. – 5 votes
8. Villanueva, Cesar L. – 5 votes

Those who did not make it to the shortlist were:
