New York to host Miss Universe 2012 in December

Reigning Miss Universe Leila Lopes has confirmed that this year’s Miss Universe pageant will be held in New York on December 11.

According to reports, Las Vegas refused to host the pageant because December is a peak season and availability of hotel rooms, salons or theaters will be scarce.

Bahamas was rumored to host again but the timing was just so bad. The island was said to have “everything cornered” for December.

However, the winner of Miss Universe 2012 will only have a short reign. The 2013 pageant has already been scheduled for May 2013.

The Philippines will be represented by Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2012 Janine Marie Tugonon, who won the crown during the Bb. Pilipinas 2012 pageant held on April 15, 2012.
