The 2013 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entries have already broken all box-office records in the festival’s 39-year history. After just ten days of commercial showing, the eight movies have already grossed P815 million, already higher than what the previous editions earned in their two-week run.
Needless to say, the 39th MMFF was the most successful edition of the festival, with the top-grossing entry being My Little Bossings which stars Ryzza Mae Dizon, Kris Aquino and son Bimby Yap, and Vic Sotto. It was followed by Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy starring Vice Ganda in quadruple roles.
Both movies have announced breaching the P300-million mark on Friday, meaning their box-office gross is not too far away from each other.
Pagpag: Siyam Na Buhay was reported to be Top 3 in the box-office. It was the only horror movie entry which stars the love team of Kathryn Bernardo and Daniel Padilla.
Fourth was the Eugene Domingo-starrer Kimmy Dora: Ang Kiyemeng Prequel, which didn’t get any award during the festival’s Gabi ng Parangal. The producers already expressed their disappointment with the results through an official statement, but also said what matters now is that their audience enjoy the movie and leave theaters happy.
Meanwhile, the box-office rankings of the other four movies have not yet been revealed. They are the much-awarded 10,000 Hours, Pedro Calungsod: Batang Martir, Kaleidoscope World, and Boy Golden.
