Piolo Pascual has been romantically linked to Shaina Magdayao since October last year. It stemmed from the Kapamilya actress’ series of posts on Instagram showing her with the actor during their stay in Singapore for the Sunday musical variety show ASAP.
The rumor hasn’t died down several months after, which prompted the Apoy Sa Dagat hunk to talk about it last Sunday in The Buzz. He revealed that they have been going out but maintained that they are just friends.
After Piolo’s interview, Shaina also commented on the matter by saying she doesn’t want to put malice in their friendship.
The two are currently working as co-stars in the upcoming movie On The Job, and Piolo revealed with ABS CBN News that they are able to know each other better in the set.
“My friendship with Shaina is okay. Masaya kami because sa ‘On The Job’ we're able to know each other better and at the same time, siguro we just have the same interests. Marami naman siguro nakakakita sa Intagram ng mga pinaggagagawa namin,” he said.
When asked to describe their friendship, the actor repeated what he said in The Buzz that they have been going out, but that they are just very good friends.
“What I can safely say about our relationship is we are friends, we are very good friends. We've been hanging out a lot lately so nandoon siya sa point na iyon.”
As with regards to what Shaina said in the interview, he said: “You just don't want to preempt things because we are just enjoying each other's company. Gaya nga ng sinabi niya, ngayon lang siya nag-e-enjoy being single. I want to give her that as well.”
But then, Piolo said he doesn’t want to talk anymore about their closeness because he wants to keep things like that personal.
“There's a thin line sa being showbiz and wanting it personal kasi whatever you say, it may appear as a showbiz answer or what have you. Gusto ko sana walang sabihin, I don't want to comment. I don't want to say anything about it pero dumadating tayo sa point na nakukuwestiyon ka. As much as you want to be sincere, iba pa rin ang dating sa tao eh,” he said.
“Siguro may mga bagay na hindi pinapangunahan. People's eyes are on you. You will be judged kahit anong gawin mo. Just to spare her that offense, minsan ayaw mo na lang magsalita kasi minsan nauuna pa ang ibang tao na mag-come up ng things about you guys. Sad to say we are both in showbiz na jina-judge lahat ng ginagawa namin.”
With regards to Sam Milby who last January said that he has plans of courting Shaina, Piolo said he hasn’t talked to him about the actress yet.
