Kris Aquino resigns from showbiz

Actress and TV host Kris Aquino has just resigned from showbiz.

“I'm giving up my shows,” she told ABS-CBN News. “Tinatalikuran ko yung mundo na bumuhay sakin dahil higit sa karera ko mas mahal ko ang anak ko.”

The decision to quit stemmed from a Temporary Protection Order (TPO) she recently filed against former husband James Yap. According to the petition, the professional basketball player made sexual advances at her in December, months after their marriage was annulled. It resulted into a heated argument between the two of them in front of their son Bimby.

James denied the accusations saying he was just joking that time because his son wouldn’t give him a goodbye kiss when his visiting hours to his son was about to end.

He even said that Kris threatened to ruin him, just like what happened to all her ex-partners, and she could easily do that because his brother is still president of the country.

“I was inside my room. Yung pagpasok niya (James) sa kwarto ko, pagtangkang paghalik sakin, nilabag niya yung batas,” Kris said.

“Sinasabi niya (James) na I was making faces, umarte lang. Matalino anak ko. Alam niya kung anong totoo, ano ang palabas lang.”

“Sabi ni Bimby, 'Papa's saying he didn't hurt you. But I was there, I saw it.' Iyak ng iyak yung anak ko.”

Meanwhile, Kris’ older sister Ballsy said, “Kung nadidinig mo yung bata, yung sama ng loob niya, yung takot, gusto naming protektahan siya. We have to support Kris, Bimby… Umabot na he (Bimby) was saying, 'I hate my papa.' Sabi ni Kris, 'No, don't hate your papa.' I said, 'Your papa loves you.'”

“Kahit annulled na kayo, we still treated you (James) well. Tapos ang ipoportray mo magrerevenge kami porke't pangulo (si Noy),” Pinky, another sister of Kris said.

Kris, whose decision to leave showbiz perhaps stemmed from the fact that a lot of people sympathized with James, said she has to sacrifice for her loved ones. “I have to make a sacrifice. My family doesn't deserve this suffering. I don't want to be selfish… I have to do what's best for my son & that means sacrificing my job.”

“I'm tendering my resignation. Sa puso ng isang nanay, ito ang dinidikta sakin,” Kris added.
