Beyonce supports gay marriage

Beyonce showed her support to the LGBT community by posting a handwritten note on her Instagram on Tuesday, the first day of hearing on Prop 8 in California.

The note read: “If you like it you should be able to put a ring on it #we will unite4marriageequality! B”

It was a paraphrase of a line in her song Single Ladies, the music video of which has been parodied many times by her gay fans.

Prop 8 has been a controversial issue since it was passed in 2008. It is a ballot proposition and a state constitutional amendment which adds a new provision to the California Constitution, which provides that “only marriage between a man and a woman is valid or recognized in California.”

The LGBT community has been fighting for their right to marry, and Beyonce gladly supports their cause.
