Entertainment Press Society (EnPress) president Jun Nardo accepted Paulo Avelino’s apology which the actor personally made during the last shooting day of his movie The Bride and the Lover on Monday.
The Kapamilya actor offended members of the EnPress during the Golden Screen TV Awards on March 1 where he received the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series trophy for his role as Nathan in ABS-CBN’s Walang Hanggan.
“Hindi ko na-realize na ganoon ang impact ng joke ko,” Paulo said. “I actually felt bad dahil hindi ‘yun ang intensyon ko. Hindi ako maingat sa nasabi ko. It was a mistake on my part.”
After winning the award, Paulo was asked if he could stay to be a presenter for Best Actor. He refused at first saying he needed the approval of his manager and Star Magic, but when his manager gave a go signal, he agreed to do it. While on the stage to present the award, however, Paulo surprised everyone when he said that he was just forced to be a presenter. “Mahirap magtrabaho kung napilitan ka lang,” he said on the mic for everyone at the event to hear.
Realizing the damage his talent has caused, Paulo’s manager Leo V. Dominguez immediately sent out a statement of apology to the members of EnPress. But according to Jun Nardo, “the offense was done, so a belated apology coming from his manager, Leo Dominguez, and not from Paulo Avelino himself cannot be simply accepted by most Entertainment Press Society members who were offended by his remarks.”
But all is well with the EnPress president and Paulo after the actor delivered the apology himself. Jun Nardo, however, said that he still needs to talk the incident out with EnPress members.
