Cacai Bautista denied that she is in any romantic relationship with Thai superstar Mario Maurer.
Rumors about an affair between the two started to spread after Cacai posted on Instagram some photos showing her and Mario in Thailand.
“Naku hindi po. Uulit-ulitin ko, magkaibigan lang po kami. Magkaibigan lang po talaga kami ni Mario Maurer,” she told ABS-CBN News’ Mario Dumaual in a phone interview. “Kumalma silang lahat, may pag-asa pa kayong lahat. Huwag kayong magalit sa akin. Kasi hindi ko rin naman kasalanan kung bakit kami naging magkaibigan. Siguro nag-click lang talaga kami kasi mabait siya. Kapag may pagkakataon na maging kaibigan mo siya, mabait talaga siya, aalagaan ka talaga niya.”
According to Cacai, the photos she posted on the photo sharing site were taken during her recent trip to Bangkok with her friends.
“It was a personal trip,” she said, denying the rumors that it was Mario who requested that she visit him in Thailand. “We do it every year ng mga friends ko, we go to places like Singapore, Hong Kong or whatever country in Asia. We decided to go to Thailand because we want to shop. It just happened na I have Thai friends like Mario, 'yung manager niya, 'yung brother niya so kinita ko na sila doon,” she explained.
She was also touched that Mario found time to meet her despite his busy schedule.
“Actually nga pagkapunta namin doon, alam ko naman kasi sobrang busy niya eh kasi he’s doing a movie in Thailand now,” Cacai said. “Other than that, mayroon pa siyang shoot abroad, pictorials, so hindi ko na in-expect na I’ll see him, pero ayun, nagkita pa rin kami.”
Cacai further clarified that she was just like a big sister to the Thai heartthrob and that his fans should not get mad at her. The two first met in Mario’s Filipino movie, Suddenly It’s Magic, where he was paired with Erich Gonzales. Reports say Mario and Cacai’s personality instantly clicked that’s why their friendship continued even after the movie.
What made the Mario Maurer-Cacai Bautista rumored affair bigger was that Cacai’s visit to Thailand happened barely a month after Mario and longtime girlfriend Gubgib Sumontip broke up.
