Jane Oineza will once again topbill a Maalaala Mo Kaya episode this Saturday, January 12. After her controversial “Manika” episode last year which was at first prohibited to be shown on television by the MTRCB due to sensitive content, the young actress is back to once again touch our hearts with her sensitive acting.
Jane this time plays the role of April, a teenager born with cerebral palsy. She gets by with the support of her family, especially of her younger brother Dhayveed played by Kyle Balili.
But what happens if Dhayveed suddenly gets tired of taking April to school, more so because his classmates already ridicule him for his sister’s condition? Will April give up just because her brother did?
Playing the younger April and Dhayveed are Blythe Brillantes and Joshen Bernardo respectively. It’s so nice to see Blythe again even if she constantly just given younger version roles (young Celine in Ina Kapatid Anak and young Veronica in Kahit Puso’y Masugatan). Her acting’s quite “loud” but I’m sure she’ll get more sensitive as she gets older. And yes, she’s very pretty, too!
Also in the episode are Susan Africa and Bing Davao as the parents of April and Dhayveed. The episode is directed by Nuel Crisostomo Naval from the script written by Benson Logronio (the same director and writer who did “Manika”).
Maalaala Mo Kaya, the longest-running drama anthology in Asia, airs Saturdays after Wansapanataym on ABS-CBN.
