Vice Ganda apologized to Maja Salvador regarding the Maja-rot joke that Anne Curtis pulled on the January 23 episode of It’s Showtime.
The comedian said he apologize if ever there were people who got offended by Anne’s joke, but defended the actress by saying she wasn’t aware there was a controversy involving Maja for allegedly dating Gerald Anderson who was the ex of her best friend Kim Chiu.
“Hindi naman aware si Anne na may malaking issue kay Maja at hindi naman ginawa ‘yun ni Anne para gawing katatawanan si Maja,” Vice told The Buzz on Sunday, Jan. 27. “In fact, nang nalaman niya na may na-off doon sa joke, na kahit alam naman namin na di direkta kay Maja, nag-apologize na rin siya.”
Anne aired her apology on Jan. 24 saying it was not her intention to offend anyone but admitted that she should’ve been more sensitive whenever there are issues.

She made the ‘Maja-rot’ joke during the ‘Sine Mo ‘To’ segment of the noontime show. They were spoofing Maja and Kim’s primetime series Ina Kapatid Anak when the other hosts of the show started making fun of Vice for flirting with a male member of the audience.
Vhong Navarro first played with the name Allan. “Allan,” he told Vice. “Allandi mo.” Landi being the Tagalog word for flirt.
Anne then said, “Uy, hindi. Siya yata si Maja. Majarot ka!” she told Vice. Maharot is the Tagalog term for wild.
Vice, on the other hand, told The Buzz that they only wanted to make people laugh.
“Gusto lang naming magpatawa. Kung meron man kaming ginawang pagpapatawa na hindi pasok sa taste ninyo, eh paumanhin po.”
Meanwhile, Vice revealed that Anne personally texted Maja to apologize regarding the matter but she received no reply.
Could it mean that Maja was really offended by Anne’s joke? Hope not. After all, there could be a lot of other reasons why someone could reply to texts.
