The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has filed tax evasion charges against comedian Ryan Bang.
According to reports, Ryan (Hyun Sung Bank in real life) violated sections 254 and 255 of the National Internal Revenue Code (NIRC) for not filing the right amount of taxes in 2010 and 2011.
Based on the tax filings of companies like ABS-CBN, Studio 23 and Summit Publishing Company Inc., the Korean actor earned an approximate of P3.05-million in the said years.
Ryan needs to pay some P1.8-million in total taxes, including surcharges and interest.
Violators of NIRC section 254 need to pay a fine of P30,000 to P100,000 and serve two to four years in prison, while section 255 violators faces one to ten years of imprisonment and a fine of P10,000.
Meanwhile, Ryan appears on television Mondays through Saturdays in It’s Showtime and Saturday nights in Banana Split.
