Marian Rivera defended by ‘Ekstra’ director from rumors

Jeffrey Jeturian, director of the independent film Ekstra, defended Marian Rivera from rumors that she is unable to deliver as an actress in the said movie.

Marian Rivera in Ekstra

Based in an article in pinoyparazzi.com, Marian took six takes to do a scene right. In the process, her co-star Cherie Gil and Direk Jeffrey were allegedly so disappointed in the Kapuso actress, to think that she has just won Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series at the 2013 Golden Screen TV Awards.

But the movie’s director was quick to defend Marian. Through the movie’s official Facebook page, he said:

Contrary to all these vicious claims which are nothing but lies, Marian fit her role to a T. she was perfect as belinda. we could not have asked for more.

in certain scenes, a number of takes were needed as we have been shooting the movie from 2 POVs (points of view) -- the TV POV and the movie POV. it is a very complicated and tedious process. and marian was most gracious and cooperative.

There you have it. The movie needs to shoot a scene several times, especially Marian’s parts, because she plays the role of the star of the soap Una Kang Naging Akin Book II where the character of Vilma Santos is a bit player (ekstra). So it is a soap within the movie and they have to shoot from two point of views as what the director said in his statement.

Produced by Quantum Films, Ekstra is an official entry to the 2013 Cinemalaya Independent Film Festival under the Directors Showcase category. The festival happens from July 26 to August 4 at the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP), TriNoma, and Greenbelt cinemas.
