Angel Locsin was declared Best Actress at the Philippine Movie Press Club’s (PMPC) 29th Star Awards for Movies (2013), held on Sunday, March 10, at the AFP Theatre in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City.
Her portrayal for the role of a mother who would do anything for the sake of her sick child in Star Cinema’s One More Try was indeed exceptional that she was able to beat Nora Aunor, a top contender for the award.
At the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) last December, Angel was unsuccessful to win the top acting honor for the same role, as the festival committee chose Nora for her role in Thy Womb.
Almost immediately after Angel accepted the award, her boyfriend, football player Phil Younghusband, posted a congratulatory message on Twitter saying the actress really deserved the win.
“Prayer really does work :) congrats my love, you won! @143redangel you deserve it! Love you!!!”
Meanwhile, Angel will soon be seen again on the big screen via a project she will topbill together with Bea Alonzo, Shaina Magdayao and Enchong Dee.
