DILG Sec Robredo’s plane crashes

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Jesse Robredo’s plane crashed off the coast of Masbate City.

The Cessna-172, which came from Cebu and was bound for Naga, reportedly called for an emergency landing around 5 PM. Before it could reach Masbate airport, however, it crashed at sea just around 150 meters short.

Robredo’s bodyguard, Inspector Gil Abrazado, was rescued but sustained fractures. The secretary himself, though, was reportedly unable to get out of the plane.

Rescue and retrieval operations are ongoing but the number of passengers are still undetermined as of this posting.

Meanwhile, presidential spokesperson Edwin Lacierda, said the public will be updated about the incident.
