Sarah Lahbati filed grave coercion charges against GMA Films president Atty. Annette Gozon-Abrogar at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court on Monday morning.
The charges were in relation to the actress’ post on her Twitter account in January 2013 regarding the under-the-table deals between ICONS talent management and GMA Artist Center.
It was also the same Twitter posts that were the basis of the libel charges filed by Annette against Sarah in January. A warrant of arrest for the StarStruck 5 winner was issued May 20th but she was already in Switzerland at that time.
Meanwhile, along with Annette, Sarah also filed the grave coercion charges against ICONS executives Albert “Bebong” Muñoz, Shiela Buendia and Andre Dee, former head of Talent Development and Management Department of GMA Arsenio “Arsi” Baltazar, and Sarah’s former handler Michael Uycoco.
She was with her mom Estrella Lahbati and her legal counsel Atty. Marie Glen Abraham when she filed the case at the office of Assistant City Prosecutor Ramoncio Ocampo.
“Lahat ng mga lumabas na news sa Internet at sa TV, parang sabi ko, I have to clear my name and defend myself,” Sarah was quoted by pep.ph as saying.
According to her this is the right time to face the charges against her and to fight back to clear her name.
“Nagsalita ako before, ang nangyari, sinampahan ako ng kaso,” she said. “Dahil lang hindi ako pumirma sa ICONS, ang daming nangyaring di kanais-nais. I think it’s unfair. This is the right thing to do - to defend myself and clear my name.”
Sarah got back to the Philippines on July 11, almost six months after she left for Switzerland, leaving her commitments with GMA-7 where she is still under contract until 2015. On July 12, she posted bail for the libel charges filed against her.
